HCC Studio Orchestra

School of Rock is in session! Houston Community College's Rock Ensembles cranked it up this week, and we are off to a great start! This semester we have 3 sections of Studio Orchestra--each one is loaded with players, and I am really looking forward to making some great music. We started this week with some 12 bar blues songs, including SRV's "Let Me Love You", Bonnie Raitt's "Love Me Like a Man", and the classic "Mustang Sally". We'll play some more blues next week, then start in on some Reggae Music.

Don't forget your Listening Assignment: bring in one song for us to listen to! It can be any style, just bring in something you like.

President's Day= No Class! Monday, Feb. 21st is President's Day. This is the day we get to celebrate the Birthdays of both George Washington and my favorite, Abraham Lincoln. (It was Lincoln who said "It is far better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and erase all doubt." How true...) HCC is Closed on Monday for President's Day, so classes are cancelled!

Makeup Class for Monday Night Studio Orchestra: We will have a makeup session for the Monday night class that is cancelled due to President's Day. It will be on Wednesday, Feb. 23 from 6PM-10PM. Please come if you can! Monday Morning Class: Yes, I know your class was cancelled, too! I was going to have a makeup on Friday morning, but I have a recording session that day. Please try not to be bitter! We'll try to make it up later in the semester...
