Gigs This Week

This weekend (Friday and Saturday, Sept. 2 and 3) I will be playing at the ultra-cool Fainting Goat in Bellville, TX. What's that you say? There's nothing cool in Bellville? Think again! The Fainting Goat is a cafe & bar that features live music on the weekends. Friday I'll be joining Warren Sneed on sax and Andrew Leinhard on piano. Saturday will be singer Jane Vandiver with Andrew and me. Very limited seating (about 30 people), so call for reservations!

STUDIO ORCHESTRA FALL 2005

Studio Orchestra Classes begin the week of September 26, 2005. Once again we have 3 sections: Monday/Wednesday 9AM-11AM, Monday night 6PM-10PM, and Tuesday/Thursday 12:30PM-2:30PM. MW and M night classes will meet in the Sound Stage, TR will meet in room 422.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

We will be listening to music and playing music every class! We will select songs to rehearse and record, and we will record a CD. Come ready to make music and HAVE FUN!

WHAT TO BRING:

Guitarists and Bass Players, bring your instrument and a cable. Guitarists, if you have an amp to bring, that helps, we are always short on amps. HCC has a bass amp. HCC has a drum set we can use. Drummers, bring some sticks (and your cymbals if you want to). I'll bring a keyboard to use, keyboard players can bring your keys if you want. HCC has an amp for keys, and a PA system. I'll bring some percussion.

WHAT'S NEW THIS SEMESTER:

In the past, we have recorded some songs engineered by Audio Classes, and some songs on my Yamaha Digital Workstation. Starting this semester, we will be using a ProTools Digi 002 instead of the Yamaha. This will give us more channels and better editing capabilities. Students with ProTools experience will be encouraged to assist in engineering and mixing our recordings. We will also continue to record with the Audio Classes.

WHAT IF I DON'T PLAY AN INSTRUMENT?

Come anyway! We will find something for you to do!
