STUDIO ORCHESTRA WEEK 2

Welcome to week 2. So far all 3 classes have met and jammed a bit. We've played some blues in 2 classes (Monday night class: we will catch up!). If any of our singers have chosen or written some blues lyrics, we will give them a try.

This week we will be playing some Reggae music. We will need all you percussion players! You might want to listen to classic reggae on iTunes like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, and Toots and the Maytals.

You will also start bringing in music for us to listen to in class. Pick ONE song. It can be anything, just pick something YOU like! We will listen to about 3 songs at the beginning of each class, and discuss elements of style in the different types of music we hear.

We will also begin journals this week. See you in class!

STUDIO ORCHESTRA STARTS NEXT WEEK!

Hey, all! I hope you are ready to start Studio Orchestra-- I am.
We will meet for the first time next week. Here are the dates, times, and locations for each class:

Monday/Wednesday Sept. 24th 9:00AM Soundstage
Monday Night Sept. 24th 6:00PM Soundstage
Tuesday/Thursday Sept. 25th 12:30PM Room 422

What to bring:

  • If you play guitar or bass, bring it along. Amps are optional, I have a couple that we can use.

  • If you play keyboards, you can bring a keyboard or a sound module. I have an ancient weighted-action digital piano we can use , but it weighs 90 lbs!!

  • If you play drums, bring some sticks. The school has a drum set we can use.

  • If you sing or rap, I'll have a mic and PA system.

  • If you play any other instrument, bring it!

  • If you don't play or sing, bring yourself, and we will find something for you to do!

Please join this blog and post any comments or questions you have.
See you next week!
