STUDIO ORCHESTRA THIS WEEK

This is the final week of classes! Please come to class, even if you have not been coming lately. We will be taking pictures for the CD cover, and we need YOU in the picture! This is also "Amnesty Week". If you never brought a song in for your listening assignment, do that this week. Catch up on your journals and Desert Island assignments-- they are all due by the last Friday of regular classes May 2nd. (NOT Finals Week!)

MW Class: Monday is probably our last chance to track. We'll listen and see what else we can add. Verses? Guitar solo???

M Night Class: Still need keyboards, synth, and some percussion. Maybe BGVs as well.

TR Class: Lead vocals?? Everything else is done, ready to mix.

MIXES: If you want to try mixing, I am putting all the files in folders on the SSL and ProTools Studios. If you want to mix at home, bring a drive or blank DVD to class. If more than one person submits mixes for any song, I will choose my favorite mix. All mixes are due to me on or before this Wednesday, April 30th at midnight. Mastering and duplication are scheduled for this weekend.

CD Cover: If you are designing some cover art, I need to see it ASAP! Please email your cover to me:
aric.nitzberg@gmail.com

CD Release Party: Here are the dates and times for the parties. Attendance is required; this is your Final Exam! You may attend your class party only. If you are unable to attend, please let me know in advance. I'll bring food and beverages, and everyone will get a copy of the CD.

Monday Night Class: Monday, May 5th. 7:00PM in Theatre 2.

Tuesday/Thursday Class: Tuesday, May 6th. 12:30PM in Theatre 2

Monday/Wednesday Class: Wednesday, May 7th. 9:00AM in Theatre 2.

Please note that the CD Release Parties do not necessarily match the posted schedule for campus-wide final exams!

See you in class!

MW Class--

I announced this at the very beginning of class, and again at the very end, but I forgot to announce it when the most people were there:

I need to cancel class this Wednesday, April 23rd. Sorry about that! Please plan to come next week, we will be taking a group picture and checking the credits for the CD.

STUDIO ORCHESTRA THIS WEEK 4/21

This week we will hopefully be putting the finishing touches on our songs in each class. Don't forget to:
Show up to every class.
Keep up (or catch up) with your journals.
Sign the credits page for your part on the CD.

ALSO if you are designing a cover for the CD, try to get me something this week. It doesn't need to be finished, just a general idea of where you are going.

IF YOU HAVE A VIDEO CAMERA, please bring it to class and take some footage. It would be COOL to have videos of our finished songs.

MW Class: We still have a lot to do for our original song. For instance, we need a title! If you are writing a verse, we need to record it on Monday. NOTE: Wednesday I will need to miss class. I will see about signing out the Protools Studio (423) so you all can continue working. We also need to record the real piano track(s), probably next week.

Monday Night Class: We will be working on lead vocals this week. We also need keyboard and synth parts, but we may not get to them till next week.

TR Class: Acoustic piano on Tuesday. I'm not sure if we need anything else after that, except some edits...

See you in class!

TIME TO RECORD!!

We are recording in every class this week! Please come to all remaining classes so that you can take part in the recording process. It would also be great if someone would bring a digital camera or video camera to class and capture the recording process for us.

Monday/Wednesday Class: Original Music. So far we have drum loop, bass and electric guitar. We need vocals (rap verses, 8 or 16 bars each; singing and rap hook), piano, Rhodes, and maybe some percussion.

Monday Night Class: Beat It. Tonight we'll track live drums, bass, keys, electric guitars, and scratch vocals.

Tuesday/Thursday Class: I Need You. We already have drums and scratch bass, vocals and keys. We'll track bass & acoustic guitar on Tuesday, maybe some percussion (shakers and bongos) if we have time.

See you in class!
