I am home with the flu, so I will have to cancel class for today. I am very sorry! We will start a new song on Tuesday.
This week we will play a little more Reggae music. The Monday class will also play some blues because we missed last week due to President's Day.
We are also beginning two new assignments:
1. Listening Assignment Bring in one song for us to listen to in class. Pick something you like, it should be a nationally recognized artist. We will listen to 2 or 3 songs at the beginning of each class. This assignment is worth 10 points toward your final grade.
So far in Studio Orchestra we have jammed a bit, and, except for the Monday night class we’ve played some 12 bar blues.
This week we will start playing some Reggae music. We’ll play Bob Marley classics like “Lively Up Yourself”, “3 Little Birds”, and “I Shot the Sheriff”.
You can start by listening to those songs on these Youtube videos.

If you have any percussion instruments you can bring those in too.
We will also start the Journal and Listening Assignment this week. You will each be bringing in one song that you like, so start thinking about what you want to bring.
See you in class!
Studio Orchestra is about to begin! Classes start the week of Feb. 11th. ALL CLASSES WILL MEET IN THEATRE 2. That is a change from the published schedule. ANOTHER CHANGE: Monday night class will meet at 7:00PM instead of 6PM.
What to bring:
If you play guitar, bass, keyboards or other instruments, you can bring them. Guitar amps are optional. The school has a drum set, bass amp and PA system we can use. I'll bring some guitars and amps to the first couple of classes. If you sing or rap, bring your voice. I'll bring a mic. I'll also bring some percussion.
What to expect:
Expect to have some fun! The first class we'll jam a bit and get an overview for the rest of the semester.
Any questions or problems, please contact me through HCC.
See you in class!
